Timeline

The projected completion date for the project is May 2013. Our timeline is broken down into fall and spring semesters at SJSU:

Fall 2012 (8/2012-12/2012):

  • Define project scope
  • Conduct initial research
  • Design and fabricate initial prototype
  • Develop kinematic equations of motion
  • Test/refine equations using prototype
  • Research/develop data extraction methods
  • Integrate realtime software control into prototype motion
  • Conduct motor sizing calculations
  • Develop funding proposals
  • Conduct full-scale mechanical design calculations
  • Begin full-scale design
  • Finish full-scale design over winter break

Spring 2013 (1/2013-5/2013):

  • Begin full-scale fabrication
  • Develop encoder system for servo motor operation
  • Finish fabrication by mid-semester
  • Finalize electronics
  • Test/tune system
  • Final details
  • Final presentation: May 2013
